During 13 years with a multi-site Federally Qualified Community Health Center, Catherine Jones was responsible for the successful completion of many projects. One of the early projects was leading participation in the BPHC Health Disparities Collaboratives. She participated in the EHR adoption as a member of the Core Team and was responsible for all clinical support staff training. She was responsible for all aspects of the Quality Improvement program from 2003 through 2013 - development of a comprehensive QI program with risk management and peer review, clinical guidelines and standing orders, and implementation of a care management team. She developed training programs for medical assistants, along with clinically-based competency forms. In 2012 and 2013, she led the health center in successful attainment of NCQA PCMH Level 3 recognition at all sites.
In the last four and a half years, Catherine has been using her FQHC experience to consult with and support community health centers. She provides clinical reviews on operational site visits, FTCA site visits, technical assistance site visits, and reviews FTCA applications. She most enjoys working directly with health center staff on projects such as development of a comprehensive quality program, attainment of PCMH recognition, office re-design, and development of team-based care. Catherine has a degree in nursing and years of clinical experience including acute in-patient and ambulatory care, pediatric and adult services, psychiatric services, and adult and pediatric intensive care services. She believes the phrase “Close the loop” sums up quality improvement in three words.
Marie Thames, M.B.A, is the CEO of The Thames Group, LLC, a boutique management consulting firm based in Albuquerque, NM. Marie’s clientele are nonprofit and healthcare entities including community health centers, networks, primary care associations, and state and federal health departments as well as national associations serving underserved populations. Her experience with community health centers includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Manager of large CHCs in New Mexico as well as serving as a HRSA/BPHC OSV Fiscal Reviewer. Her firm provides management consulting services on both a project and interim basis. In this capacity, her firm provides OSV preparation, revenue cycle review & payer contract re-negotiation, development and implementation of policies and procedures, financial and operational analysis for turn arounds and new starts, 340b Single Audit plan design and implementation, as well as interim CEO & CFO services. Marie has written over $10M in successfully funded Section 330 grants, performed over 100 community health center reviews made up of OSVs, PCER/JCAHO reviews and diagnostic reviews. Additionally, Marie has implemented 340b contracted pharmacy programs providing pharmacy services to over 100,000 people. She has also brought systems, policies and procedures and software conversions to a number of healthcare entities.
